Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using WireMath. By installing, opening, or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What WireMath is
WireMath is a reference and calculation aid for licensed electrical professionals, apprentices, and students. It performs common electrical calculations and points to relevant code sections by number. It is a convenience tool only. It is not engineering advice, not a design service, and not a substitute for the National Electrical Code (NEC), your local codes and amendments, manufacturer instructions, or your own professional judgment. Nothing in the app creates a professional relationship between you and the developer.
2. Your inputs and standard assumptions
Every result the app produces depends entirely on the values you enter and on standard assumptions built into the calculators — for example, typical conductor properties, ambient temperature baselines, termination ratings, and rounding conventions. These assumptions are reasonable for common cases but will not match every field condition. The app cannot see your actual installation, and it does not know your local amendments. Small differences in inputs or conditions can produce very different correct answers.
3. You are responsible for verifying results
You are solely responsible for checking every result before you rely on it. That means confirming the answer against the applicable NEC edition, any state or local amendments, and the requirements of your authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) or inspector. Use the app's "Show the work" details to check the method, then verify the numbers against your own code book and tables. Do not treat any output as final until you have independently confirmed it.
4. Safety and qualified persons
Electrical work is dangerous. It can cause fire, serious injury, or death. Design, installation, alteration, and inspection of electrical systems must be performed only by qualified persons, in accordance with all applicable laws, codes, permits, and safety practices. This app does not make anyone qualified to perform electrical work.
5. No warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY RESULT IS CORRECT FOR YOUR SITUATION.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation property damage, personal injury, failed inspections, rework, downtime, or lost profits, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the app, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
7. Jurisdiction and code data
Jurisdiction data, adopted-edition labels, and code references in the app are periodically updated snapshots. They may lag official adoptions and amendments, and they may contain errors. Always confirm the current, adopted edition and local amendments directly with your AHJ.
8. Trademarks and independence
NEC and National Electrical Code are registered trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). WireMath is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFPA. The app cites section numbers for reference only and does not reproduce NEC code text or tables.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be made available in the app. Your continued use of the app after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
